Armidale symposium to link local with global on sustainability and social justice

New England Mutual is sponsoring a Symposium in Armidale on Sunday, November 7 to discuss how local communities and individuals can contribute to a more environmentally sustainable planet and a more socially just society.

The Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Symposium, a partnership between Sustainable Living Armidale, Starfish Enterprises , the Uniting Church Armidale and the global Pachamama Alliance will be held at Legacy Hall in Faulkner Street.

Skilled facilitators Judith and Robert Seton from the US will work with local facilitators Debra Mill, Helen Webb, Graham MacKay and Adam Blakester to assist the discussions.

"This is the issue of our times and it involves everyone," said NEM CEO Kevin Dupé

"We need to have these discussions at a local level and harness the good will of the community to develop a more environmentally sustainable, just and inclusive society.

"Much progress has already been made but more needs to be done which is why symposiums such as this can act as a valuable catalyst for further action."

The Symposium is open to the public and those wishing to attend or find more information should go to www.ness.wikidot.com/awakening-the-dreamer or contact Adam Blakester | Starfish Enterprises | 6775 2501 | 0419 808 900 | adam@starfishenterprises.org or Debra Mill | Sustainable Living Armidale | 0427 934 557 | milldk09@gmail.com.
